About Us

Lions Clubs are part of community life, in the cities and in the country. Clubs are easily identified by their distinctive Logo, the trademark of our International Association, and the 'We Serve'; motto.

Lions Clubs International Logo

Lions Australia is part of an international association, filled with people who are joined by the common desire to make their communities better, by using their creativity, enthusiasm and energy.

Membership is open to all people of the community in good standing.

This website is where you can find out about your own local Lions Club.

LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL OBJECTIVES

TO CREATE and foster a spirit of under-

standing among the people of the world.

TO PROMOTE the principles of good government and good citizenship.

TO FUND and otherwise serve the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.

TO ASSIST financially, culturally, socially and morally the handicapped, disadvantaged and infirm of the community, both directly and indirectly.

TO UNITE the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.

TO PROVIDE a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members.

TO ENCOURAGE service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavours.

AS A LION

You would be a member of one of over 45,000 Lions Clubs in over 206 countries around the world. There are over 1.35 million members and still growing, so it is easy to see, with our “objects”, that Lions make a tremendous contribution to world health and goodwill and are a vital part of our community.

Founded in 1917 in the USA, we have grown to be the largest service organisation in the world.

LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL:

HQ in USA and from there many International Service projects are controlled and millions of dollars dispersed from the Lions Club International Foundation each year.

LIONS CLUBS IN AUSTRALIA:

Throughout Australia there are some 28,000 Lions in over 1,400 Clubs. We have a council of governors from Lions Districts which co-ordinates most National projects.  A foundation to provide funds for prompt relief to National disasters and assistance with International and local community projects is now very large indeed.

INDIVIDUAL CLUBS:

Mostly have a social Dinner Meeting each month with fellowship, fun and an interesting guest speaker.  In between, Committee and Board Meetings.  Service activities include fund-raising and community work projects.

AS AN INDIVIDUAL MEMBER

You would attend committees to submit your thoughts on service projects (the consensus is conveyed to the “Board of Directors” for decisions), work your way through club offices, develop leadership qualities and gain valuable experience.

You would enjoy working with other members on the simplest project and derive great satisfaction from the end result.

Ladies, whether members or not, are always involved and a strong social side to each club ensures the relaxation you need and builds the friendship which make working together more the pleasure.

The wide range of skills of members and associates, plus the very high public respect for Lions make so many projects possible.

You are welcome with open arms to Lions Clubs the world over, so you would have friends wherever you go and Club Banner exchanges confirm these visitations.

MEMBERSHIP ON LIONS:

Is an important step, it could be the start of a life-long interest, so we offer you the opportunity to experience the social side and meet other members.

Involvement in service is very satisfying, never demanding nor obligatory at any particular time.Perhaps you are too busy?  If so come and meet a lot of other busy people and find the relaxation it gives from high pressure existence.
